Working Holidays with horses in the Alpujarra of Andalucia, Spain One to three weeks working holidays now offered ALL YEAR ROUND. 5 hours working on the ranch each day: mucking out, cleaning tack, exercising horses, helping with children's lessons etc. We provide food and accommodation. Two hours each day of riding lessons, trekking out, schooling horses and stable management. With our Working Holidays you are paying a set fee. For example, one week Working Holiday = 210 euros, and this guarantees you a minimum of one and half hours riding and tuition each day. Your accommodation and food are provided in an exchange for your work each day: so you are basically volunteer working in exchange for your food and lodge. If you prefer to choose accommodation near the Ranch and come up each day for your riding and tuition, you would not have to parttake in the volunteer work. Obviously you would then pay for the accommodation you have chosen. We can help you choose accommodation near the Ranch.		If you choose to stay on the Ranch, the accommodation is VERY BASIC, but comfortable. This is not the same accommodation as we use for our treks and trail rides. You will be staying in a small casita (like a little dormitory with two single beds) with a kitchen next door, or in a caravan. The kitchen is shared with some of our farm help too. There is no hot water in the kitchen: we boil the water to wash up. We have an outside compost toilet, and a hot shower in a separate building, which is used by all on the Ranch (normally there are a minimum of 6 other people staying). We provide the food for breakfasts and lunches, which we ask you to prepare for yourselves. Everyone takes turns to make evening meals: we supply you with the basic ingredients, and a mostly vegetarian diet. The weather can be warm, so you will need sunscreen and tshirts. It can however, change very rapidly in the high altitudes: we are over 1000 meters above sea level in the Sierra Nevada, and we ride up to higher altitudes (2400 meters) so also bring lots of warmer clothes such as fleeces and waterproofs. We have solar lights in the bedroom and kitchen and candles in the caravans, but recommend you bring a torch for trips to the loo in the dark!
