March has been a busy month here on the farm, getting the regular horses fit and ready for the summer season as well as training up our new arrivals.
Spice has settled in to her new home very well and we are looking forward to getting to know her better over the next few months. She is very friendly but being a chestnut mare, she does have a bit of attitude!
We had a wonderful three night trek at the start of March, with two nights staying high in the mountains and one night down in the valley near Orgiva. The horses and riders had a great time! Pepe and Ruby became firm friends and Peiper proved braver than both of them when she was the only one willing to get her feet wet when we went down to the river! Of course, once Pepe and Ruby saw how much fun she was having, they promptly joined in! See below for a few pictures we took along the way.
The almond blossom was incredible for the first three weeks of March, now the bright green leaves are coming out and spring looks like it is well and truly here.
Sanson carried out his annual stock check of the buckets. He was very pleased to report that there were only a few with holes. He was less impressed that despite his exhaustive checking, there were very few traces of food to be found.
Our Dog of the Month is Ted. Ted is a gorgeous young chap, less than a year old and very keen to please. He is about the size of a large Labrador and is a lovely pale blonde colour with darker ears. He has excellent recall and is fabulous around other dogs, horses, cats, geese… you name it! He has been at the farm for quite some time now and whilst he enjoys all the attention, he would really love to belong to just one person. He is micro chipped, has his own passport and is ready to travel!
